GMC Elections: AJP Releases Poll Manifesto; Drinking Water Supply Priority

AJP has fielded 25 candidates in the GMC polls of 60 wards

For the ruling alliance, the BJP has fielded Bhuban Gam for the seat. , AJP named Chittaranjan Basumatary as its candidate

The CM’s reaction came after the regional party of AJP named Chittaranjan Basumatary as the common candidate of the Opposition for the Majuli seat

Basumatary is expected to have a straight contest with BJP’s Bhuban Gam whose name was announced on Monday.

Hundreds of AJP workers and supporters marched towards the Assam Raj Bhawan in Kharguli area from Guwahati Club.

By-polls to the five seats of Thowra, Mariani, Bhabanipur, Tamulpur and Gossaigaon will be held on October 30

While AJP had drawn a blank and the RD managed one seat with Gogoi winning as an independent MLA from Sibsagar constituency

There were also allegations that recently an unknown person without any security clearance was found inside the campus of the strong room site

While the three phases Assam assembly election would end on April 6, the counting of the votes would be done almost a month later on May 2

Gogoi has contested the state polls from two constituencies of Duliajan and Naharkatia
