At present, eight districts of Assam are under the disturbed areas notification which include Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Charaideo, Sivasagar, Jorhat, Golaghat, Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao.
A team of lawyers and a member of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee are also in Dibrugarh for meetings with the detainees, who are currently lodged at the jail. Tarsem Singh, Amritpal Singh’s father, is among them.
Nearly 42,500 people from 230 villages in 12 districts have been affected by a massive storm.
Amritpal’s arrest comes a month after the police launched a massive crackdown against him and his outfit.
The youths detained in Dibrugarh include Kulwant Singh Dhaliwal, Varinder Singh Johal, Gurmeet Singh Bukkanwala, Harjit Singh Jallupur Khaira, Bhagwant Singh Bajeke, Daljit Singh Kalsi, Basant Singh, Gurinderpal Singh Aujla and Papalpreet Singh.
While addressing a public rally, Shah added that the saffron party will win 12 out of the 14 Lok Sabha seats in the northeastern state.
Papalpreet was arrested under the National Security Act from the Kathunangal area of Amritsar rural district by the Punjab Police on Monday.
The incident took place at a bypass near Nahartoli under the Dikom police station of the district.
Shah was received at the Dibrugarh airport by Sarma before the Union minister left for neighbouring Arunachal Pradesh.Â
One person sustained minor injuries in the Chabua revenue circle, but no casualties have been reported yet, official added.
