According to sources, the vehicle was part of a three-vehicle convoy that had moved from Chatten in the morning toward Thangu.
As per officials, the incident took place between Pengeri-Digboi Road in Barpathar around 9.20 am, when the Army team was patrolling the area.
The deceased jawan was identified as Lance Naik Prabin Tamang, a resident of Darjeeling in West Bengal.
However, the four bodies were recovered on Friday from the crash site in a densely wooded mountainous area.
The incident took place near Migging village of Tuting in the district around 10.43 am.
