Assam: IPL betting racket busted, Rs 39 lakh seized, two held

The arrested gamblers have been identified as Dibakar Das, Kaushik Saha, Suraj Nath, Sanjeev Karmakar and Bapan Rai.
The police also seized unlawful documents along their mobile phones which were used for gambling
The crime branch of city police on October 12, 2021, arrested three high-profile gamblers who were allegedly involved in illegal betting on the outcome of IPL matches
Names of several high profile businessmen, contractors have also come to the light for their alleged association with the IPL betting nexus.
During a raid at Ajay Agarwal’s residence, the crime branch seized five mobile handsets and cash amounting to Rs 3.66 lakh
Earlier, the crime branch of Assam police launched an operation in various locations of the city and arrested three gamblers
Police sources also informed that a few more people involved in the betting nexus might come to light soon
The accused have been identified as Shakti Singh (27), who hailed from Graham Bazar, and Sahid Khan (39) who hailed from Amolapatty in Dibrugarh.
