Notably, on January 23, the state’s chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that strict measures would be implemented across the state to keep a check on the spike in child marriages.
The incident took place on Monday at Lumding in the district. The accused has been identified as Uttam Das.
Meanwhile, a show cause notice was served to the teacher by Kamrup Inspector of Schools Apurba Thakuria on October 14.
The accused was convicted under Section 06 of the POSCO Act for ‘aggravated penetrative sexual assault’ on the minor.
The victim’s parents rushed her to the hospital after she became ill in June of last year, and the doctor found she was three months pregnant.
Meanwhile, police went to the accused’s place but he left his home. He has also switched off his phone and is absconding.
Ramjan Ali raped the minor girl and impregnated her on the pretext of love and later absconded to Mankachar in Dhubri district.
The 10-year-old in her statement to police claimed that the accused has molested and raped her multiple times when her parents were not around.
He claimed that the conspiracy against him was led by some people of Lakhimpur who were close to him and were jealous of his achievement.
