Dr Upreti was stabbed near his groin area by one Thinlay Bhutia while attempting to save a hospital attendant.
The doctor has been identified as Dr Sanjay Upreti from the Cardiology department. Upreti was later admitted in STNM under serious condition.
During investigation, the deceased was identified as Kamala Limboo, a resident of Toyang Busty who was reportedly missing for past few days.
Sanchaman Limboo was the fourth chief Minister of Sikkim who served from June 17 to December 12 in 1994.
