Assam: ‘Drug peddler’ injured in police firing in Karbi Anglong; Heroin worth Rs 6 crore seized

Police seized 10,000 Yaba tablets and 12.5 kg of ganja in two separate operations. Drug traffickers identified as Atikur Rahman, Nazrul Islam, Deepak Kumar and Sahil.
On Saturday too, Security forces arrested two persons and seized heroin worth over Rs 8 crore in Karbi Anglong district.
The value of the contraband in the international market is estimated to be nearly Rs 25 crore.
Police apprehended two accused persons in connection with the seizure, official stated.
The arrested persons have been identified as Saharul Islam Mazumder (31) and Samir Hussain Laskar alias Babul (45), both are residents Silchar’s Berenga area.
Based on specific information, a Mizoram-bound vehicle was intercepted by district police at the Bagador area in Silchar.
In another incident, one drug peddler was arrested in Kaliabor ‘s Jakhalabandha village in the Nagaon district.
Following the incident, he was immediately taken to Barpeta Medical College for treatment.
