Guwahati/New Delhi, January 11: At a time when various organisations including political parties have been demanding repeal of the of the controversial Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA) from the disturbed areas of Northeastern states, at the same time the government has now reportedly been evaluating AFSPA to make the act more humane.
As per reports two Sections of the AFSPA has been focused now.
The decision is followed by several rounds of discussions between the Defence and Home Ministry.
Not just the after effects of AFSPA in Northeastern states like reports of alleged fake encounters to violent clashes but the same is reported from Jammu & Kashmir of the act triggering tension among the people as it was reported to partially withdraw the act from the state or dilute some of its provisions.
However sources informed that the defence had stated that the AFSPA has been working as an enabling act to tackle insurgency in the northeast in hostile environments.
