Guwahati: In a shocking incident, a government school teacher from Uttar Pradesh’s Shahjahanpur district was arrested for allegedly molesting at least 18 minor girls.
The accused teacher has been identified as Mohammad Ali.
As per official, the principal of the school and an assistant teacher have also been charged for supporting the accused, a computer teacher.
The official said that all three accused have been booked under sections of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, the IPC and the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act.
However, several students approached their teachers and revealed that Mohammad Ali used to perform obscene acts and abuse multiple girl students in the school. After this, the teacher immediately informed the police as well as the villagers.
After receiving information, the villagers thrashed the accused and handed him over to the police. A case was also registered against the accused teacher, Sajia and the school’s headmaster, Anil Kumar.
The parents of the girls then raided the school and also recovered used condoms from the school’s toilet. A purported video of the incident surfaced on social media.
Currently, the police are recording statements of the girl students as a part of the investigation.
The official said that legal action is being initiated and the Child Welfare Committee has been informed.
Meanwhile, the education department has taken strict actions against Sajia and the principal of the school. The services of the computer teacher have also been terminated.
Further investigation is underway.
