Guwahati: The election to the Thengal Kachari Autonomous Council in 22 constituencies will be held on Thursday while counting of votes will take place on January 24, 2022.
The voting will take place from 8 am to 4 pm.
The last date for submission of nomination was on December 31, 2021.
Scrutiny of nomination papers took place last January 1, 2022, while the last date for candidates to withdraw nomination was January 3, 2022.
At least 30,922 electors will decide the fate of the candidates in the fray in the Golaghat district.
Apart from Golaghat, voting will be held in Jorhat and Lakhimpur districts as well.
Meanwhile, in respect of holding the Thengal Kachari Autonomous Council election, 2022, the Governor of Assam has declared dry days in the poll-bound areas of the state under the autonomous council concerned on January 19, 2022 (pre-poll day), January 20, 2022 (poll-day) and January 24, 2022 (the day of counting).
According to the order, bonded warehouses, IMFL retails both OFF/ON, shops including the club on and the country spirit retail shops in the election areas will remain close in the dry days.
