Chenga: Assam’s singing sensation Zubeen Garg on July 26th, 2019 sought a permanent solution to the perennial problem of flooding in Assam from Centre and demanded that the Assam floods should be declared a national problem.
Under the aegis of Zubeen Garg Fan Club and Kalaguru Foundation, the singer today visited a number of flood relief camps and distributed food and other necessary items to help the flood victims in Sundaridia of Assam’s Barpeta district. He was accompanied by his wife Garima Saikia Garg and singer Diganta Bharati in cooperation with the All Assam Students’ Union(AASU).
Garg also distributed free medicines and conducted free medical check-ups in a medical camp organized for the flood-hit people.
“We will continue to stand together in pain…Assam flood is a national issue and hence a permanent solution is highly anticipated. The government should chalk out plans to floods from happening in the state in a scientific way.”, said Garg while talking to Time8.
It may be mentioned that Barpeta has been the worst-hit flood-affected district this year affecting over 11 lakh people across 659 villages followed by Dhubri.
The singer who has been active in various philanthropic activities on July 23rd, 2019 volunteered for a donation drive in Guwahati’s Chandmari area for the flood victims. He along with his group went door-to-door for fundraising.
