Guwahati: Assam witnessed a third wave of floods with over 23,000 once again being impacted by the deluge on Wednesday, an official bulletin said.
At least 23,158 people are suffering from the deluge in Bajali, Chirang, Darrang, Dhemaji, Dhubri, Jorhat, Kamrup, Tamulpur, and Udalguri, the bulletin issued by Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) said.
As many as 80 villages and 5004.50 hectares of agricultural fields are submerged by the flood waters, the ASDMA stated.
With no new reports of fatalities, the total number of people killed in the state’s floods this year stands at 199.
Dhemaji district was the worst hit with over 20,690 people suffering, followed by Udalguri (1,438) and Tamulpur (425).
Around 1,511 people, including 193 children, have taken shelter in 16 relief camps in three districts.
No river is flowing above the danger level in the state as of now, it added.
