Guwahati: Two minor girls were allegedly sexually assaulted by three minor boys on Saturday in Assam’s Kokrajhar district.

The incident occurred near Nilgar border, around 12 kms from Kokrajhar Sadar police station.

According to sources, the minor boys allegedly drugged the two girls before perpetrating the crime.

Meanwhile, the three minor boys were later detained after the families of both the victim girls filed a complaint.

Last month, a fast-track court in Assam sentenced three men to death for the rape and murder of two girls in Kokrajhar last year.

On April 6, the three accused, Muzammil Sheikh, Nasibul Sheikh, and Farouk Rahman were found guilty.

The conviction relates to a case in which two Rabha community girls, aged 14 and 16, were raped and subsequently murdered by the culprits. It was first reported as a suicide. However, the victim’s relatives refused to accept it and sought an investigation.

Special Judge C Chaturvedi of the Korajhar fast-track court sentenced them to death.

The culprits were caught just 72 hours after the girls were found dead on June 14, last year.
