Udalguri/Guwahati, July 12: On Thursday, the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) apprehended three youth belonging to Arunachal Pradesh under suspicion of being Human traffickers at Harisinga in Udalguri district and rescued two minor girls.

The detained Arunachali youth were identified as Nabangsang Darji, Thupten Darji and Pem Tsering. They were found along with two minor girls during routine checking.

Sources informed that along with these three there was another youth from Assam namely, Shaniram Soren who was accompanying them. The after primary interrogation SSB then handed over the custody to the Harisinga Police.

The police added that after they were detained and interrogated, they denied the allegations of them being human traffickers. They claimed that they are not Human Traffickers but they were actually taking the girls with them as the domestic help at their houses and the youth from Assam was helping them as they did not know the area properly.

However, the police arrested them as the girls who were found with them were minors and it was against the law to engage anyone below the age of 16 in any sort of work. They have been arrested for being involved in child labour.

One of the minor girl’s father also accepted that the girls were being sent to Arunachal to work as maidservants.
