Acting on the revelation, police have also recovered the body of the infant. Police said that the body was dug out from a forest area on Thursday night

Guwahati: At least three persons were arrested in connection to the alleged abduction and murder of a five-month boy in Cachar district. Police had registered a case under various sections of IPC for kidnapping for murder, theft and trespass.

On Wednesday, the baby while sleeping with his parents was kidnapped through the window panes from his residence in Sonai Kajidahar area.

Police said that trio has admitted of killing the infant after abduction.

Acting on the revelation, police have also recovered the body of the infant. Police said that the body was dug out from a forest area on Thursday night. The body was already sent for post mortem.

Sources said, “Police are trying to ascertain the motive behind the killing. There are records of ransom calls too.”

Cachar police suspected that the killing might be a result of personal enmity too as one of the accused was the maternal uncle of the deceased.

Meantime, locals have staged a road blockade demanding capital punishment for the accused.
