Guwahati: In a major crackdown, at least three tiger poachers have been arrested near the Orang National Park while, two poachers are still at large, said the police.

The arrested poachers were identified as Azibur Rahman, Hasmat Ali and Mohammad ML. All the three culprits hail from Dhekiajuli in the Sonitpur district.

According to sources, the two other fugitives were identified as Shadiqul and Ahmed.

It is learned that the poachers were arrested after forest workers found the remains of a royal Bengal tiger buried at the premises of accused Azibur Rahman of No.2 Bosa Shimlu village near the park last Saturday.

Meanwhile, all the arrested poachers were produced before the court on Wednesday.

Operations are on to catch others of the gang, added the police.
