    Tinsukia police announced Rs 2 lakh reward for lead in Digboi blast

    The banned militant outfit of Ulfa (Independence) has denied its involvement in the suspected grenade blast in Tingrai Bazar area in Digboi

    Guwahati: Tinsukia police on Saturday announced a cash reward upto Rs.2 lakhs for anyone giving concrete information about the miscreants behind the Tingrai blast that took place on Friday morning.

    Seeking the public’s support in the district, Tinsukia police shared a picture of two motorcycle-borne suspects on their Twitter and Facebook handles.

    Also, taking to Twitter, Tinsukia police tweeted saying, “Tinsukia police announces cash reward upto Rs.2 lakhs for anyone giving concrete info abt suspected miscreants on bike as seen in pics. They r wanted in y’day’s (14 May) grenade blast case in Tingrai bazar. Pl inform via call/WhatsApp- 8638018965. Your identity wil be kept secret.”

    Speaking to the media, Tinsukia Superintendent of Police, Nimbalkar Vaibhav Chandrakant said, “I urge everyone in the district to cooperate with us in tracing the suspected miscreants behind the grenade blast incident at Tingrai Bazar and share us the information if they have any. We will keep the identity of the citizens secret.”

    So far four people have been detained for questioning in the grenade blast incident, informed Tinsukia Police.

    Meanwhile, Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday visited the blast site and met the family members of Surajit Talukdar, who succumbed to his injuries at Assam Medical College and Hospital in Dibrugarh.

    CM Sarma also took to Twitter saying, “Today visited & met family members of late Surajit Talukdar who was killed in a dastardly grenade blast at Tingrai market in Digboi on Friday. Announced Rs 5 lakh one time financial assistant to next of kin of victims Talukdar and Sanjiv Singh. Asked for best treatment to injured.”
