Guwahati: To mark the special day for the Indian Team Contingent including Assam Boxer Lovlina Borgohain departing for Tokyo Olympic 2020, the Assam Olympic Association (AOA) organized a celebratory event “Good Luck Lovlina, Good Luck Team India” on Saturday at R. G. Baruah Sports Complex, Nehru Stadium.
Chef De Mission of Indian Contingent Birendra Prasad Baishya, Everest Climber Anshu Jamsenpa, Swimmer Mithoo Baruah, Boxer Kalpana Choudhury, Cricketer Parag Das, Para Athlete Anyatam Rajkumar, Lawnballer Tania Choudhury, Swimmer Elvis Ali Hazarika and President of Adventure Tour Operator of Arunachal Pradesh Tsering Wange were present as the Guest of Honour of the event.
Lakhya Konwar, General Secretary of AOA mentioned that Team will definitely bring laurels to the country by winning in the Tokyo Olympic 2020.
Meanwhile, a contingent of 88 members, which includes 54 athletes besides support staff and Indian Olympic Association (IOA) representatives, departed for the Japanese capital on Saturday night to participate in the COVID-hit Tokyo Games.
Union Sports minister Anurag Thakur on Saturday gave a formal send-off to India’s first batch of the Tokyo Olympic-bound athletes from eight disciplines at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi.
