    Top JMB Leader Arrested In Assam’s Barpeta

    The most wanted JMB cadre was absconding since the 2014 Burdwan Blast

    The Barpeta Police on October 16th, 2019 arrested a dreaded Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB)- an Islamic terrorist organisation operating in Bangladesh- leader.

    Ajahar Uddin Ahmed is a resident of Roumari Pathar under Tarabari Police Station of Barpeta district.

    A team led by Bhawanipur Police Output Incharge Dipak Borgayary arrested Ajahar as per orders from Barpeta SP, Robin Kumar. It may be mentioned here that a joint team of police and army had been searching for Ajahar for quite a long time.

    He reportedly joined the terror outfit in the year 2013. The most wanted JMB cadre was absconding since the 2014 Burdwan Blast. As per police sources, Ajahar was arrested acting on a tip off as he reached Barpeta from Telengana on Wednesday.

    Ajahar was produced before the Bajali additional district and session court on October 16th, 2019. He has been sent to seven-day police custody
