Top Cops’ houses raided in connection with Assam Police recruitment scam

Assam Police have arrested around 50 persons, including former DIG Prasanta Kumar Dutta and BJP leader Diban Deka

GUWAHATI: Assam police’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) raided the residences of senior police officers Kumar Sanjit Krishna and Prashanta Kumar Dutta in connection with the Assam police recruitment scam on Wednesday.

Sources said that the CID team raided Krishna’s residences in the city’s Ulubari area as well as in Karimganj. The team also searched the house of Karimganj ASP Dutta in the city’s Mathura Nagar area. Krishna, who was posted as Karimganj SP, was recently transferred to Barpeta following his name surfaced in the scam.

The CID sleuths reportedly seized several ‘questionable’ documents from the residences of both the cops. The CID had quizzed the officials.

Assam Police have arrested around 50 persons, including former DIG Prasanta Kumar Dutta and BJP leader Diban Deka on charges of playing key roles in leaking the question papers of Assam Police recruitment in return for huge cash. Over Rs, 5 crores were also seized in several raids and operations.

Sources said that the home department has allowed the CID to investigate the role of the top cops.
