For Vijaya Dashami celebrations on October 8th, 2019, security has been beefed up across Guwahati, with special traffic arrangements and restrictions imposed in the city.
The immersion of idols will take place in two major ghats – Kacharighat, Fancy Bazar and Pandu Ghat. The other three ghats where too the idols will be immersed are – Saukuchi, Chunsali, Noonmati and Basistha.
No idol carrying vehicles shall be allowed to move on B Barooah Road from Ulubari to TC Point and GNB Road from TC Point and RBI Point. Vehicles carrying idols from Ganeshguri, Dispur and Kahilipara areas are to move from Ganeshguri via RG Barooah (Zoo Road), MR Dewan Road, Guwahati Club, MC Road, FC Road and MG Road.
Parking of vehicles has been restricted at: MS Road, TRP Road, HB Road, MLN Road, MG Road, B Barooah Road, MC Road, FC Road, MRD Road, GNB Road, GS Road and RG Barooah Road.
Spectators from Chandmari, Paltan Bazar and Dispur can park their vehicles at: ARB Road, Dr JC Das Road, SS Road and SRCB Road. Similarly, spectators from Bharalumukh and Santipur can park their vehicles at MG Road (from Apollo point to FA Road).

Vijaya Dashami, also known as Dusshera, is majorly celebrated in eastern and northeastern states of the country, marking the end of Durga Puja. On Vijaya Dashami, the effigies of Ravana, Kumbhkaran, and Meghnad are burnt with fireworks marking the destruction of evil.
