Guwahati: In yet another tragic incident, two minor girls are feared drowned in the mighty Brahmaputra river in the outskirts of Dergaon near Hutar village of Shikali Chapor under Majuli constituency.

As per reports, both the minor girls were aged around 6 to 7 years old.

Though the exact reason for the deaths of the two minors is unknown, however, prima facie evidence reveals that both the girls are neighbours and might have gone towards the bank for playing and fell into the river due to slipping.

Meanwhile, local people in the area fished out the bodies of the two minor girls from the Brahmaputra river and handed them over to their parents.

It is to be noted that the rescue operations at the Nimati Ghat after a passenger ferry capsized following a collision with another vessel is still on.
