Tripura: Carcasses of migratory birds found in Udaipur, probe ordered
Agartala (Tripura): Over hundred of migratory birds’ carcasses were found on Thursday at the Sukh Sagar lake region in the Khilpara area of Tripura’s Gomati district, near Udaipur.
The rare migratory birds arrive in the state during winter.
The concerned officials from the forest department were notified as soon as the dead birds were spotted near the lake region.
According to the sources, DFO Gomati district Mahendra Singh led a team of forest personnel visited to the location and ordered a thorough investigation.
As per official, the matter is under investigation.
These birds have been visiting Udaipur for the past six-seven years, said sources. These birds actually arrive from California and because of the harsh weather conditions in their native habitat around this time, they prefer to visit Tripura during the winter months, sources added.
