Tripura Congress Denise Possibility Of Forging Alliance With CPI-M

The Tripura Congress vice president Tapas Dey on March 11th, 2019 denied any possibilities of forging an alliance with the Communist Party of Communist Party of India (Marxist) for the forthcoming general election, schedule of which has been declared by the Election Commission of India (ECI), here in Tripura.

Dey, while talking about the speculation about an alliance, said, “Congress will never go for any understanding with CPI (M). TPCC has resolved firmly that there will be no understanding with CPI-M.”

The 2019 Lok Sabha polls in the eight northeastern states will be held in three phases in April – 11th, 18th and 23rd, 2019 as declared by the ECI.  While polling in Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Sikkim will be held in a single phase, polling in Manipur and Tripura will be held in two phases and polling in Assam will be held in three phases.

Meanwhile, the BJP National General Secretary and the in-charge of party’s Northeast affairs, Ram Madhav is scheduled to visit Tripura on March 13th, 2019 to review poll preparation and finalise candidates for the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls.
