In a bid to boost tourism in Tripura, the state government will build replicas of the 51 Shakti peethas.
The state government has already allocated 14.22 acres of land for the construction of the replicas at Fulkumari located in Gomati district. The place is about 3 km away from the Tripuresari temple, a famous temple and one of the 51 Shakti peethas.
It may be mentioned, the Shakti peethas are significant shrines and pilgrimage destinations in Shaktism. There are a total of 51 shrines in the world out of which, 38 are in India, six in Bangladesh, three in Nepal, two in Pakistan and one each in Tibet and Sri Lanka.
The Tripura tourism department has come up with the plan as the common man cannot visit each one of the Shakti peethas.
With this new initiative, the Tripura government will boost tourism in the state and Fulkumari is the proposed location. The tourism department in its preliminary report has mentioned that the entire project will cost around Rs 44 crore.
The proposal for the project has already been sent to the 15th Finance Commission for funds and the entire construction will be carried out by the tourism department.
