Agartala: Tripura Information and Cultural minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Tuesday met with the Assistant High Commissioner of Bangladesh Mohammad Jobayed Hossain in a courtesy call at Civil Secretariat here in Agartala city.
During the meeting, ICA minister Chowdhury said, “We will do our utmost to create a more beautiful relationship between Tripura and Bangladesh. This was the main topic of our discussion today”.
During the meeting, first secretary SM Aasaduzzaman was also present. He said that they will play the necessary role in building better relations from their respective positions and further expanding multidimensional communication and cooperation, including sports and culture, for the welfare of the people of both countries.
“We both pledge that our main goal will be to strengthen cultural and sporting ties to give our relationship a lasting foundation. The barbed wire fence of the border divided us but the cultural barrier was not broken. The same cultural bond between the two countries has been a major bridge between India and Bangladesh for many years”, he added.
“The people of Bangladesh have a long-standing relationship with Tripura. Government-sponsored cultural groups are taking this relationship forward. Even if the map changes, people’s way of life and their culture never changes because the culture of one or more nations, growing up in the same nature, has developed over hundreds of years”, the minister said.
He said that there are a lot of similarities in it. So even if the borders of the state are newly formed, the culture does not change. It has been flowing for ages. The same applies to Bangladesh and India.
