CPIM stages protest over alleged booth capturing by the ruling BJP karyakartas in Tripura

Agartala: A day after the election, Tripura Left Front and CPIM on Friday wrote letters to the State Election Commission demanding CCTV surveillance, three-layer security cover during the counting of votes of the urban local bodies election on November 28 next.

In separate letters to the SEC, Tripura Left Front convenor Narayan Kar and CPIM secretary Jitendra Chowdhury said, “Though the just concluded election to the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) and 19 other Urban Bodies has already created much controversy and attained defame in various phases, still, for the sake of smooth and dispute-less conduct of counting on next 28th November 2021, CPIM urges you to some measures.”

“All the counting halls must be under the scanner of the CCTV coverage, The Counting halls must be under three-layer security cover and in the last layer i.e. the gate of the Counting hall must be guarded by none other than CPMF,” LF and CPIM added.

The letter also added, “The security personnel deployed in the gate of the counting hall must be directed to strictly maintain gate to restrict the entry of any unwanted person. All media persons may be given free access inside the Counting Hall.”

It is worthy to mention here that CPIM has also demanded fresh elections in 117 wards including the entire AMC out of 222 wards where elections took place last Thursday.
