Tripura: Rs 10 lakh penalties collected on the issue of vehicle pass for Durga Puja
Agartala: Tripura Traffic Police department has collected more than Rs 10 lakh for the arrears of e-challan in a span of 18 days.
For a long time, it has been a tradition of enjoying ‘No Entry Pass’ during Durga Puja festival season in the capital city of Tripura.
This time, Traffic Police department has issued a notification mentioning that there are some conditions for issuing of vehicle passes during Durga Puja festival.
One of them is that if the applicant is in arrears of e-challan penalty for the pass, the vehicle pass will not be issued. After fulfilling this condition, the majority of the applicants fall under the arrears of e-challan.
However, for four days easy access through No Entries in different routes in Agartala city, people are ready to clear the e-challan penalties, said police.
As a result, the applicants in this section are left on the vehicle pass cancellation list. As soon as the matter came to the notice of the applicants, they lined up at the traffic building to pay the fine.
The applicants of the concerned section became anxious to get the vehicle pass by paying whatever the amount of the fine is. Consequently, in the last 18 days, e-challan arrears of more than one million rupees have been recovered.
Accordingly, Tripura Traffic Police department has collected more than Rs 10 lakh for arrears of e-challan after the notification of Durga Puja issued on September 22 last.
It is reported that, the amount of fine collected may increase further in the coming days.
