Tripura: TMC state president with 30 cadres arrested for violating COVID norms
Agartala: Tripura police arrested about 30 supporters including Trinamool Congress state president Asish Lal Singh from the Kailashahar sub-division of Unakoti district on Wednesday for violating COVID appropriate behaviour.
However, the TMC state president Asish Lal Singh on Thursday claimed “About 82 supporters including him were arrested from Gournagar area by the Kailashahar police administration coming under the pressure of ruling party”.
He said, “When I was hoisting the party flag to pay homage to the martyrs of our party at Gournagar police arrested 82 party leaders and activists and kept us in a temporary jail”.
Kailashahar police station officer-in-charge (OC) Partha Munda said “We received information that a political party held an unlawful gathering and violated COVID norms. Accordingly, Kailashahar police reached the spot with a huge contingent of TSR jawans and arrested about 25-30 TMC activists including party’s state president Asish Lal Singh”.
It is to be mentioned here that the TMC state president visited Kailashahar on Tuesday evening to attend a party programme on Wednesday morning.
Notably, Asish Lal Singh is the son of Sachindra Lal Singh, who was a leader of the Indian National Congress and the first Chief Minister of Tripura state in northeastern India from July 01, 1963 to November 01, 1971.
