Guwahati: Following Guwahati’s footstep, neighbouring state of Tripura has also decided to start phase-wise door-to-door rapid COVID-19 antigen testing across the state from Monday.
In the capital city also, health department has started door to door rapid test in Pandu area.
As per the Tripura health department, the testing drive will be conducted in two phases.
While in the first phase, all state entry points and people living in the state’s containment zones will be tested; in the second phase, every household of the state will be covered, officials said.
All passengers coming to Agartala Airport, railway station and Churaibari check gate on the Assam-Tripura border in North Tripura district, will undergo the COVID19 antigen test starting from July 13.
Tripura Law Minister Ratan Lal Nath said, “The state will need around 50,000 rapid antigen test kits for Phase 1.” Already the state has received around 14,000 kits from the Cetre.
Under the drive, health workers will go to every house and screen all members. Those who have fever and display other symptoms will be tested for coronavirus.
An antigen test offers results in within 30 minutes.
As many as 112 people tested positive for Covid-19 in Tripura, taking the northeastern state’s tally to 1,693 on Tuesday, chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb said.
