Tripura Tribal Parties To Submit Memo to Modi Opposing Citizenship Bill

Guwahati, January 29, 2019

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Tripura state in the coming month will see several tribal parties of the state including the Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT) and the Indigenous Nationalist Party of Tripura (INPT) submitting a memorandum demanding the withdrawal of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019.

Modi will visit Tripura on February 9th, 2019 where he will address a public gathering in Agartala at the Swami Vivekananda Ground after inaugurating and laying the foundation stone of several projects. Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb informed the media that arrangements are going on in full swing to welcome the Prime Minister in the state.

Visit to Arunachal Pradesh

PM Modi will also make a visit to Arunachal Pradesh on February 9th, 2019, to lay the foundation stone of Greenfield airport at Hollongi. The Finance Ministry cleared the proposal for the construction of the airport on January 11th, 2019.

After the proposal was cleared, Chief Minister Pema Khandu extended his gratitude towards PM Modi and wrote in his Twitter handle, “Great joy for TEAM ARUNACHAL that decades-old dream of having our own Airport at Capital has been approved today in PIB at an estimated cost of ₹1055 crores. I thank Hon’ble PM Shri @narendramodi Ji for his unstinted support in having this project see the light of the day (sic).”
