Tripura woman raped in Nagpur

Agartala, December 2: A 30-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a man whom she had asked for help to find a police station in Nagpur.

The victim was on her way to Tripura from Coimbatore in a train with a friend. She was working in a company four months ago in Coimbatore and she had resigned from her post and was heading back home. When the train stopped in the Nagpur Railway Station, her friend was nowhere to be seen.

She immediately deboarded the train and started to search for her friend, however, the train left the station and she was stranded in the station.

Later, she decided to file a missing complaint in a police station and asked a man for a nearby police station. He took the victim outside of the railway station on the pretext of taking her to the police station and raped her in an isolated place and fled the scene.

The woman struggled and reached the main road where a man saw her and took her to a traffic police department. The police intimated the Ganeshpeth police and took the victim to their care.

The police are checking CCTV footage in the Nagpur railway station to nab the culprit.
