    Tweeps Fondly Remember ‘Missile Man’ APJ Abdul Kalam On His Fourth Death Anniversary

    Guwahati: On the fourth death anniversary of former President Abul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam, popularly known as APJ Abdul Kalam on July 27th, 2019, Twitteratis affectionately remembered and paid rich tributes to the ‘Missile Man’ of India.

    Kalam was born in 1931 in Madras presidency and has contributed as a scientist and science administrator. He also worked with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and developed ballistic missile and launch vehicle technology. He was also the 11th President of India from 2002 to 2007.

    On July 27th, 2015, Kalam visited Shillong, Meghalaya to deliver a lecture at the Indian Institute of Management Shillong. Only five minutes into his lecture, he collapsed. He was rushed to the nearby Bethany Hospital and was confirmed dead of a sudden cardiac arrest at the Intensive Care Unit.

    Addressing Kalam as the ‘guiding beacon’, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal wrote on Twitter, “Solemn tributes to the iconic scientist and former President of India, Dr #APJAbdulKalamon his death anniversary. His ideas have given wings to millions and continue to act as a guiding beacon for generations to come.”

    Former Assam Chief Minister and veteran Congress leader Tarun Gogoi mentioned that Kalam’s contribution towards the nation is indelible.

    Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu also paid rich tributes to the ‘People’s President’.

    The IIM Shillong also remembered Kalam. Kalam delivered his last lecture at the IIM Shillong.

    All India Mahila Congress president Sushmita Dev mentioned that ‘legend’ Kalam’s journey has inspired millions across the globe to reach out for the stars.

    Congress MP and president of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee, Ripun Bora also remembered Kalam.

    West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee paid tributes to Kalam on his fourth death anniversary.

    All India Congress Committee general secretary Harish Rawat said Kalam is an ‘inspiration’.
