    Two Assam youths shot in Arunachal Pradesh: Tension along the border

    Eyewitnesses told police that the gunmen were in facemasks making them not recognizable

    GUWAHATI: Tension gripped along Assam- Arunachal Pradesh border in Lakhimpur district after two tea tribe community youths reportedly have been shot by miscreants in Arunachal Pradesh ’s Kimin area under Papum Pare district leading to public outcry.

    As per Pare district police, the duo was injured in a miscreant attack in the Market area of Kimin township on Monday evening.

    Police said two rounds of firing heard by locals. The injured sustained bullet injuries on their shoulder and hand, police said.

    Eyewitnesses told police that the gunmen were in facemasks making them not recognizable. Police, however, launched a manhunt already.

    The incident triggered anger on the Assam side of the border and several Adivasi right group and student groups staged a road blockade on Tuesday demanding justice and immediate arrest of the culprits.
