Guwahati: Meghalaya’s capital city of Shillong to undergo a two day total lock-down starting from Monday.
The Meghalaya government announced a two-day total lockdown in capital Shillong from Monday after the state reported the highest single-day spike.
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said that the decision was taken to contain the spread of COVID-19, besides ensuring behavioural changes among citizens to follow coronavirus-related guidelines.
“This will be a lockdown of the virus through behaviour change. This period will be used for tracing the contacts of the positive persons who are in Shillong so that further spread may be contained. I urge everyone to strictly adhere to the lockdown so the virus can be isolated,” Sangma said.
During the lockdown on July 13 and 14, there will be a total lockdown in the Shillong city agglomeration. During this time, Shillong city and surrounding areas shall be under curfew till 6 AM of July 15.
Meghalaya so far has 248 total active cases out of which 178 are from BSF and four from Air Force. So far 45 patients have recovered in the neighbouring state.
