Guwahati: Haj pilgrims from the Northeast have been asked to inoculate themselves with both doses of COVID-19 vaccine before they land in Saudi Arabia.
A government notification issued on Wednesday by the executive officer and secretary of the joint Haj committee stated, “The provisionally selected pilgrims of Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim for Haj 2021 are hereby informed that, as per Health Minister of Saudi Arabia and Mail from Consulate General of India, Jeddah, Pilgrims visiting the Kingdom need to get two doses of Vaccine before departure to Saudi Arabia.”
The notice also stated that outgoing flights will start from mid-June, therefore those who have applied for Haj – 2021 have been advised to take the first dose of vaccine now on their own so that at the time of departure the second dose is also given to them.
“So as to keep themselves ready and there should not be any constraint of not vaccinated,” it further added.
It is also informed that no official communication regarding Haj 2021as been received from the Saudi Government as of now. All the process of Haj will be subject to the approval of Saudi authorities.
