Two forest officials injured in rhino attack in Assam’s Golaghat district

Guwahati: At least two people were badly injured after being attacked by a one-horned rhinoceros in Assam’s   Golaghat district on Friday morning.

The event occurred in Mohima gaon in the district.

As per sources, the rhino had been wreaking havoc since morning on Friday. 

However, following the incident, locals informed forest officials, and immediate attempts were made to control the animal. 

Meanwhile, during the operation, District Forest Officer (DFO) Sushil Kumar Thakuria and another official were injured after being attacked by the rhino. 

Both injured were taken to a medical centre for treatment. 

Earlier in November 2022, two persons were seriously injured when a female rhino attacked them in Assam’s Kaziranga National Park. The rhino attacked the two persons, identified as Binod Saro, a forest worker at the national park and Jiban Saro, a local youth when they were engaged in road clearance work in the Borbeel area under Kohora forest range in Kaziranga National Park.
