Dibrugarh/Jorhat, March 13: Two lady cops from Assam DSP Nandini Kakoty and DSP Kavita Das have grabbed the headlines recently for exemplifying bravery and excellent police work in their respective areas thus succeeding in bringing down the crime rate. Both are leading successful raids against the illegal alcohol Business in their respective areas.
Speaking exclusively to TIME8, DSP Nandini Kakoty who is serving in Jorhat District said that the raids she has conducted so far in Jorhat have actually destroyed the basic structure of the anti-social elements who are involved in kidnapping, extortion or in any other illegal activities like gambling or country made liquor businesses.
Kakoty further informed that to make Jorhat Town safe during the night hours, a Special Task Force will be formed under Jorhat Police in order to curb the criminal activities and the team would be led by Kakoty herself.
Recent ground reports also state that with brave women like Kakokty at the helm of affairs, it has become easier for girls from the region to share their problems.
As per reports, Kakoty also supervises prostitution cases, dowry cases and female-oriented cases including missing complaints. However, the cases are later handed over to the respective police stations in the Jorhat district.
“We will also have a WhatsApp group very soon, where people can share their grievances and any kind of issues. The group will also have my personal number,” said Kakoty.
On the other hand, TIME8 also tried to get in touch with DSP Kavita Das, of Dibrugarh. But could not get through.
Police sources from Dibrugarh have said that DSP Kavita was initially interested in a sitting job, but after she joined Police, she adapted easily and is doing excellent police work now in the region.
Speaking to TIME8, highly-placed sources said that the team led by Kavita is very strong and has carried out multiple successful raids against the illegal liquor business in Dibrugarh.
It may also be mentioned that Dibrugarh was famous for Drugs and illegal country-made liquor but gradually the situation has come under control after brave police officer like Kavita has joined the forces.
