Two Thrashed for Cattle Lifting in Tripura; Second Mob Violence Incident after 24 hours
Agartala: Barely after 24 hours of a mob lynching incident in Teliamura sub-division, another incident of alleged lynching took place at Beluarchar area under Sonamura sub-division where two youths were beaten up black and blue on Monday.
Coming under suspicion of cattle theft, local people of the Beluarchar area in the Sepahijala district of Tripura have reportedly beaten up two youths and handed them over to the Kalamchoura police station on Tuesday evening.
Beluarchar area is located 30 KMs away from Agartala city.
On Tuesday morning, the owner was searching for his cows and locals allegedly saw the suspected duo with the cows and thrashed them severely.
Kalamchaura police later rescued the two suspects from the spot and brought them to the police station in the evening.
The two suspected accused were Liton Barman and Parvez Ali. They hail from the Manikyanagar area, 33 KMs away from Agartala while adjacent village to the Beluarchar area.
During interrogation, the duo revealed that they have been asked to take cows from one place to another as a labour of one of the owners.
However, the owner of the cow, Biswajit, filed a case with the Kalamchoura police station in the name of the two suspects.
Eventually the stolen cows were found to belong to a man named Kala Mia of Kamthana area.
SDPO Biplab Banoj Das told this correspondent that a case has been registered and the police are investigating the case.
