Guwahati: In a recent development, CM’s Special Vigilance Cell, Assam filed a charge sheet against Thanuram Bhuyan, the then principal of Sissiborgaon College in Dhemaji for his alleged involvement in fraudulent withdrawal of UGC fund.
It is alleged that the principal had siphoned off a huge fund of amount Rs 50 lakhs released by UGC for development of infrastructure of the college. However, the principal has failed to submit the utilisation certificate (UC) for the fund.
The case was registered against the accused on September 24, 2017 by complainant Nilotpal Deka, APS, Dy SP, CM’s Special Vigilance Cell.
It is known that the Bhuyan has withdrawn the entire sanctioned amount but could not produce any document, voucher regarding the expenditure made by him.
During investigation sufficient documentary and material evidences have been found against accused Thanuram Bhuyan, that he has misappropriated more than Rs 38 lakh by submission of fake vouchers, bills out of Rs 50 lakh which was sanctioned by government of Assam to Sissiborgoan College for development and construction of digital library and class room.
During investigation it was found that only the plinth of a classroom was constructed out of the above schemes which were meant for the development of Sissiborgoan College.
