The United Liberation Front of Asom’s self-styled commander-in-chief Paresh Baruah and his family members have reportedly been excluded from the final National Register of Citizens (NRC).

As per information, Baruah’s name was included in the draft NRC. Baruah’s wife Bobby Baruah and his two sons – Akash and Arindam’s name did not appear in the final list.

The final NRC was released after six-year-long process. It was started in 2013 as per the order of the Supreme Court. The NRC included a total of 3,11,21,004 persons and excluded 19,06,657 persons. The final draft NRC, which was released in 2018, had excluded over 40 lakh people. However, the time limit for filing appeals in the Foreigners’ Tribunals has been increased from 60 days to 120 days.
