Guwahati: After receiving orders from the higher authorities, Dispur Police on Monday night detained United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) leader Pradip Gogoi from the Hatigaon area of Guwahati.
Gogoi is currently being held at Dispur Police station. However, the police are yet to state the reason for his arrest.
Reportedly, the ULFA leader is accused of drafting the blueprint of minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s assassination.
According to sources, police have recovered phone records of Gogoi in which he allegedly made calls to a person in Karbi Anglong discussing the assassination plans.
Meanwhile, Gogoi denied the allegations. Investigation into the matter is underway.
