Guwahati: Assam police termed ULFA(I)’s execution of two youths as an act of cowardice and shameful.
On Sunday state police chief DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta while denying the outfit’s claim that they were police agents, said that the police department had no relation with the two youth.
The ULFA-I has caused a lot of bloodshed over the years and that the Assam Police has been caring for more than 1200 children’s families of ULFA, DGP claimed.
He stated to the allegations as a conspiracy.
Chief of the ULFA-I, Paresh Baruah had responded positively to continued negotiations about the peace process. In the meanwhile, claiming AssamPolice for sending spy there would be a foolhardy move, said DGP.
Meanwhile, Mahanta also advised Assam youth not to join the militant group, adding it would be a bad decision.
On Saturday, two members of the banned United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I) were killed for allegedly “spying” on the organization at the direction of Assam police.
The two cadres were identified as Dhanjit Das alias Roopak Asom and Sanjib Sarma alias Rishav Asom.
