Guwahati: In a shocking incident, unidentified miscreants hurled acid at a carpenter in Assam’s Cachar district on Wednesday.
The victim has been identified as Shankar Das, a resident of the Kalain area in the district.
According to sources, Das was taken by miscreants from his home on the pretext of providing carpentry jobs.
Meanwhile, after travelling for some time, the accused asked Das to get off from the bike and hurled acid on him, and fled from the scene.
The victim was rescued by the locals and rushed to Silchar Medical College and Hospital in critical condition. He is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.
The police have started an investigation into the matter and launched a search operation to nab the culprit.
Further investigation is on to identify and arrest the involved accused in this case.
