Guwahati: The United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) officially announced its candidates for the much-anticipated state by-polls, scheduled to be held on October 30.
On Sunday, the UPPL announced the names of candidates for the Gossaigaon and Tamulpur constituencies respectively.
According to the list, the names of candidates are Jiron Basumatary from 28 Gossaigaon LAC and Jolen Daimary from 58 Tamulpur LAC.
It may be mentioned that after the last state Assembly elections, MLAs from both the Gossaigaon and Tamulpur constituencies died of COVID-19 complications, thus, necessitated a by-poll in both the constituencies.
On Sunday, BTC chief Pramod Boro shared a photo of the list of candidates for the by-election on his official Twitter handle.
“Heartiest best wishes to @TheUPPLOfficial candidates Shri Jiron Basumatary & Shri Jolen Daimary for the upcoming by-polls for Gossaigaon & Tamulpur LACs respectively. I am confident of their success & also wish them great strength to contest the by-polls,” said BTC chief Pramod Boro in his tweet.
Earlier, the BJP had announced that it would give up both Gossaigaon and Tamulpur constituencies to the UPPL.
