Uunchai Movie Review: Pals on a heartwarming adventure will make you cry and laugh

The Amitabh Bachchan, Anupam Kher, Boman Irani, Neena Gupta, and Sarika starrer hit cinemas on Friday, and the love has already started pouring in for team Uunchai.

Bollywood has already been wowed by Sooraj Barjatya’s film Uunchai, and many celebrities and other film industry figures are infatuated with the story of friendship.

On Wednesday, Anupam hosted a grand premiere of the film, and it was attended by the film’s cast and their family members, including Jaya Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, and several celebrities.

Post-screening, celebs shared their thought about the film and thanked Sooraj for spreading hope and positivity.

In the film, Bhupen (Danny Denzongpa), born in Nepal, has the dream of going on a trek to mount Everest with his buddies, Amit (Amitabh Bachchan), Om (Anupam Kher), and Javed (Boman Irani).

But the four pals are now senior citizens and climbing Mount was the biggest challenge of the trek because of their age. Everest is a mammoth task.

Although the friends initially reject the idea of trekking, Bhupen’s passing gives them the drive to summit the mountain. They decide to embark on this adventure out of pure friendship and to grant their best friend’s final desire.

The aim of the film was to depict the struggles of these old men, their physical difficulties on the tough Everest trek, as well as the several of emotions they experience.

Parineet Chopra portrays a mountain trainer who aids the trio in their objective, therefore the film is also likely to appeal to a younger audience. Movie specialists believe that both young and old audiences will like this movie. Neena Gupta as Shabina Siddiqui is essaying the role of Boman Irani’s wife in this movie.

Amitabh Bachchan and Sooraj Barjatya worked together for the first time on Uunchai, and the actor, as usual, gave a strong performance. His character in this role is full of life and has a moment of self-discovery toward the end, which sets it apart from anything else he has performed in recent years. While, Om is excellently played by Anupam Kher, and his character also has a unique trajectory for an actor of his age group. In actuality, Kher’s character’s transition is the most exquisite of all its parallels.

Boman Irani does well at Javed and his chemistry with Neena Gupta is heart-warming. Their romance has an old-school vibe and you can’t help but smile through their interactions. Both the actors are apt for their roles. Sarika is a pleasure to see on screen, and she effortlessly fits the part of Mala. A portion of the audience will be amazed by the purity of Danny Denzongpa’s smile. He is a lovely surprise. Their journey to Everest is really made more credible by his miraculous presence.

However, Uunchai is a wholesome movie that will make you laugh and cry at the same time.
