Guwahati: Assam police on Wednesday announced a reward for sharing information of the five culprits who are seen brutally torturing a young girl in a viral video.
Assam police also took to Twitter saying, “These images are of 5 culprits who are seen brutally torturing & violating a young girl in a viral video. The time or place of this incident is not clear. Anyone with information regarding this crime or the criminals may please contact us. They will be rewarded handsomely.”
The video has been circulated through various social media, saying it’s related to the recent incident which happened in Rajasthan’s, Jodhpur, where a 25-year-old Naga woman reportedly committed suicide.
However, Additional Director General of Police, Delhi Police and Special Commissioner, Robin Hibu informed the media that the viral video is not related to the 25-year-old Naga woman, who reportedly died of suicide at Rajasthan’s Jodhpur on May 23, 2021.
Later, the sister of the deceased girl and the Police have verified the viral video, and confirmed that the video is not of the Naga Woman, who died of suicide in Jodhpur, Robin Hibu IPS informed.
According to a source, Delhi police are also looking for the person, who dubbed the viral video as the Jodhpur Naga girl suicide case.
“I have spoken personally to DCP Jodhpur and also informed Gujarat Police, Mizoram Police and Rajasthan Police. We are trying to identify the girl in the viral video, also the perpetrators for further action,” Hibu said.
Meanwhile, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju took his official Twitter handle saying, “The viral video of a girl from North-East being brutally raped and tortured by 4 men & 1 women is not related to Jodhpur suicide case. I had detail discussion with the Police Commisioner of Jodhpur. However, there must be all out efforts by all State Police to catch the devils.”
