The weekend is here and people in Guwahati often escape to its magnificent neighbouring state Meghalaya to spend the perfect weekend among the clouds.
Why would someone not like to visit this abode of clouds, Meghalaya as the landscape is a treat to senses. Well, this time why not visit the newly opened Rilang Viewpoint located in Mawranglang village, South West Khasi Hills district?
The Meghalaya Tourism department has urged people to visit the Rilang Viewpoint from where one can have a panoramic view of the serene South West Khasi Hills. The department shared a video of the new viewpoint on September 21st, 2019 on social media and said that visiting the place will be the best start of the weekend.
The Rilang viewpoint is near Mawkyrwat and it is newly opened for the public after it was closed for a while for beautification. The beautification project was taken by the district administration under the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Rurban Mission and the place offers the majestic view of the Rilang river and the undulating hills at the backdrop make it a scene straight out of a movie.

The video while showing the beauty of South West Khasi Hills also sends a reminder that while you go there to enjoy the beauty of nature, don’t forget to clean your litter and to keep the place clean.
The South West Khasi Hills district is 125.3 km from Shillong and it was carved out of the West Khasi Hills district in the year 2012.
