Kokrajhar, May 24, 2019

Independent candidate from Kokrajhar parliamentary constituency Naba Kumar Sarania, who defeated Bodoland People’s Front candidate Pramila Rani Brahma, on May 24th, 2019, said that he was confident of the victory in the constituency.

“Nobody survived in the Modi-wave in the state except me. Peoples’ trust made me more responsible to work for the betterment of the constituency,” Sarania said.

He further said that the result was pre-predicted in the constituency. “All those, who put effort to defeat me, have failed,” Sarania added.

Speaking to the media persons, Sarania assured of finding out a solution in the Bodoland issue soon. “The Bodoland issue will be obliterated in the near future,” Sarania said.

Sarania said, “It was a tough fight this election. I would like to thank the people for their support.”

He further said, “I will continue raising my voice for the greater interest of the people of my constituency including the land rights in the BTC and granting ST status to the Nath-Jogi and Kalita along with other six communities.”

Naba Kumar Sarania won the election with a margin of 37,786 votes in the election. Sarania gurnard 4,84,560 votes while Pramila Rani Brahma got 4,46,774 votes and the Congress candidate Sabda Ram Rabha got 1,47,118 votes.

It may be mentioned that 15,988 NOTA votes were cast in the constituency.
