Watch | Assam CM loses cool, shouts at Nagaon DC over ‘road blockade’ amidst his visit

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday lost his composure and asked Nagaon Deputy Commissioner for allegedly ‘blocking the Barhampur road’ amidst his visit to the town.

“What drama is going on here? Is there a king visiting this place? Just clear the road immediately, people are being harassed. Don’t do this again (DC Sahab Yeh Kya Natak Hai, Kyu Gari Rukwaya Hai Yaha? Koi Raja-Maharaja Aa Raha Hai Kya?),” said the chief minister to the DC Nagaon in an agitated mood.

It may be mentioned that Assam Chief Minister has always given priority to justice to citizens. Amid the COVID-19 outbreak in the state; Sarma had emerged as a ‘hero’ in Assam’s battle against the pandemic.

Earlier, the Assam chief minister also asked the BJP leaders and top party functionaries to give up their Personal Security Officer (PSO), saying “this is a culture of the Congress party”.

CM Sarma, who also holds the Home portfolio, said, “I will ask the state BJP president (Bhabesh Kalita) to impress upon the party leaders to give up PSOs.”

“There is no need for PSOs. This is the Congress party’s culture. We do not have any threat to life as we have done nothing wrong,” the Chief Minister said as part of his address at a function in Guwahati on the occasion of Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s 97th birth anniversary.

“We do not need PSO to open the doors of the cars, we have the strength to open our doors. I was at the Congress party. I have a list of such types of practices with the Congress party’s patronage,” he added.
